Douglas Stewart has worked on a piece based on the New York skyline and sent us a teaser this week, so I am sharing the first glimpse of his new painting with you.

Just contact asart and, the moment the painting is complete, you will receive an image and full details.

Finally, we can offer you a superb work by Arie Smit: Night fall.

Arie Smit is a national treasure in Bali and his works are in constant demand. Turning 100 this year, he is no longer painting but remains in his beloved Bali. There is much written on Arie Smit and a lot can be found on the internet. I encourage you to access this information or contact asart.

This work is a lovely, intimate 2001 landscape of rice paddies, prayer flags and a young woman going about her devotions at sunset. With Arie Smit's work, it is always the light that draws one's attention. Although his works can sometimes be considered naive, they are quite complex and have spawned many followers of his style, particularly in Bali.

(In 2015, 2 of Arie Smit's works were offered by Christie's Hong Kong. The larger, 101cm x 88cm, achieved $US 207,000 / £144,000 approximately whilst a smaller work, 71cm x 52cm, achieved $US 110,000 / £76,500 approximately)

Wishing you a very prosperous and happy Year of the Monkey,
Anthony Smith and the asart team
