Experience, judgement and connoisseurship

asart began as Anthony Smith Fine Art and the specialist division Corporate Art in the late 1970s. Anthony Smith studied Law at the University of Melbourne (Australia) and later Arts, majoring in Art History. He is still one of only a handful of art professionals, actually dealing and advising clients, to have tertiary qualifications in art.

In the late 1980s Anthony's attention was drawn to the art coming out of Asia, and this interest has grown over the years to become a passion. Anthony's knowledge and understanding of the art movements in Asia, particularly Southeast Asia, and his relationship with Asian artists ensure that asart is able to secure the finest pieces for collectors.

asart now embraces art from around the world: China, Southeast Asia, elder indigenous Australian (Aboriginal) art, and contemporary international (Western) art.

asart clients include both public and private collections around the world, as well as individual and corporate collectors drawn to Anthony's commitment to developing "collections rather than accumulations" of artwork and his rare level of experience, judgement and connoisseurship (read testimonials below).
